Welcome to Wyoming...
So today we drove through Wyoming, the state that should be known as the windmill capitol of the world, yet somehow, I didn't see a single one. I felt like I was on the wing of a 747 at 14,000 feet holding on to a pair of handlebars. Then, because serious gusts of wind were not enough to hold our attention, it started raining. I stopped to get some pictures, and while walking away from the bike saw the wind literally lift my bike from the side-stand until it was almost vertical, it was pure luck that it didn't throw the beast right over in the road. Talk about a memorable experience. I don't really have a whole lot of positive to say about today, so I'll skim over, and discuss the past two days, of which I have yet to write about.
Two days ago, the 4th, we ate what have undeniably been the best two meals of our trip. Meal one took place at a small joint outside of Kansas City called The Brickhouse, where they served a tenderloin sandwich the size of my face. Huge! After eating we met with Dempsey (super helpful), a guy dad met online who sells electronic headsets for motorcycles. We installed two sets, and after truly experiencing the kindness of Dempsey, we moved on to Independent Photo Supply in Kansas City so I could buy some Cokin X-Pro filters for my new lens. The owner gave them to me at least half off! Would definitely recomend this store. Encountering low fuel about 65 miles out from Salina, we pulled into Manhattan, Kansas. Another good meal awaited our starving stomachs at Famous Dave's Barbeque, whose "famous" brisket sandwich was perfect! Our waiter, Mathew, had just bought his first motorcycle, a Honda CBR 600 RR earlier that day. Another great guy.
Yesterday we pushed our way through the rest of Kansas (a state which is about as interesting to ride through as listening to fingernails on a chalk board) skirted around Denver in time for 5:00 Friday traffic, and into Cheyenne, Wyoming. Pretty un-eventful day, but coming around Denver there was one very strange sign involving a nun, a radio station, and a very large billboard. Supposedly AM 1920 is Catholic radio. Who would've thought?
Tomorrow we head for expected snow showers with a chance of getting to Glacier National Park. Hope for the best!
Zack

You came through Kansas City and wasn't nice enough to even STOP AND SAY HI?!?
Famous Daves isn't bad, but there is a whole lot better places. I've taken I-70 across Kansas/Colorado 6-7 times, there aint nothing out there. And when you hit Colorado, you're all like "Where's the moutians?" All the changes is the speed. The moutians are a hour past Denver, and Denver is still a LONG ways away ha ha ha.
Have a good trip and stay safe!
